Votive shrine via Montefalcone on the corner of via Morti dell’Astore

The votive chapel was built in memory of a tragic episode called the “Astore deaths”, to which the street is also dedicated.
It happened in April 1742 that two young farmers were mistaken for two fugitive escapees and therefore executed by the Austrian imperial militias. When the truth was discovered, the two killed laborers were considered martyrs and two small religious buildings were erected to commemorate that injustice.
