Palazzo Papa

Palazzo Papa dates back to the 18th century but retains interesting traces of the 14th and 15th centuries. It was first owned by the Cerutti family and later by Dr. Gianfranco Papa who owned an interesting project by the architect Rodolfo Vantini dating back to 1833-34, commissioned by the owner at the time Pietro Cerutti.
Architectural elements that recall that era are for example the columns with rustic foliated capitals that punctuate the portico, the terminal pilasters and the vaulted ceilings.
A small staircase leading to the first room was partly destroyed during the bombings of 1944. The first room is characterized by neoclassical decoration: walls with chiaroscuro paintings, panels depicting the arts, music, commerce and agriculture. The second room has a neoclassical decoration with grotesque medallions (Dante, Homer, Virgil, Horace etc).
The third always has a neoclassical character, adorned with small medallions. The ground floor has a small room with elements from the 16th century and the neoclassical era, the room has a diamond-shaped terracotta flooring.
