Monument to the Fallen of the Sea
The Monument to the Fallen of the Sea was built in 1971 based on a project by the architect Maurizio Betta from Desenzano.
The work consists of two large basins with an anchor and chain in the center. During the inauguration ceremony, sea water from the four Maritime Republics: Amalfi, Pisa, Genoa and Venice was poured into the fountain. The ceremony concluded with the placing of a laurel wreath on the bottom of the lake in memory of all the fallen sailors.
