Civic Ornithological Museum “G. A. Carlotto”

The rooms of the Casa del Podestà, located in the upper district of the Rocca Visconteo-Veneta, house the Civic Ornithological Museum whose collection derives from the collections of the ornithologist Gustavo Adolfo Carlotto (1886-1970).
The approximately seven hundred specimens represent the Italian avifauna in an almost complete way and their remarkable state of conservation is due to the interventions of Marco Gianese, a renowned taxidermist, who dedicated himself to their embalming.
The specimens are grouped in twelve showcases, according to the environment they belong to: woodland, mountain, high mountain, Mediterranean, brackish wetlands, freshwater wetlands, rural, urban environment, migratory birds of Lake Garda. Each specimen is accompanied by a sheet describing its main characteristics.
