– Lonato del Garda
Church of S. Antonio Abate
The ancient church testifies to the devotion to the saint by the population of Lonato, dedicated above all to sheep farming and livestock breeding.
The architectural complex and the organization of the internal environments are the result of additions made over the centuries: from the fifteenth century bell tower to the central nave completed in 1601.
The 17th century saw the assignment of the church to the Confraternita del Suffragio which sponsored the construction of a second body on the side of the nave.
The main altar is richly embellished with stucco bas-reliefs from the Baroque period.
