Olfino

In the hamlet of Olfino, in a secluded place, we can visit the church of the Santissima Trinità, a small Romanesque church, once governed by Olivetan monks. The interior is rich in allegorical stuccoes that were superimposed on previous sixteenth-century frescoes, of which some signs remain.
The small town comes alive on the occasion of the so-called “Polastrel Festival” in mid-July.
In an elevated position, going up in the direction of Volta Mantovana we come across the village of Pille, once “Pile”, a name that recalls the wealth of water basins.
The highest point in the area, called Monte della Croce, offers a wonderful panorama all around and on clear days, the view of Lake Garda. Continuing towards Castellaro Lagusello, we come across the town of Monte Oliveto, where in the 17th century oratory, dedicated to San Giuseppe, we can admire the canvas by Caliari which represents the rest of the Holy Family. The oratory stands next to the ancient residence of the Morati Counts.
