Church of Santa Maria del Corlo

The church has fourteenth-century origins and in 1505 it passed to the Confraternita dei Disciplini who embellished it, also adding the elegant bell tower (1676) and establishing a hospital there starting from the year 1600.
The façade is equipped with a sixteenth-century portal which opens onto a wide staircase, leading to the actual church, three meters high above the street level.
The nave is characterized by a vault decorated in the Baroque period with quadratures and allegorical figures.
The interior also shows frescoed wall decorations (the oldest are from the fourteenth century and referable to the original church).
On the left is the Chapel of San Michele Arcangelo painted in 1595 by the Brescian painter Pietro Marone and allows you to admire an interesting depiction of the Last Judgment.
The vault of the presbytery is entirely covered with baroque stuccoes and decorations by the brothers Antonio and Giuseppe Gandino.
Of particular beauty is the Lamentation over the Dead Christ, a work sculpted in wood by Valentino Bolesini and painted by Pietro Bagnadore (1550-1627).
